Representatives of the Georgia Cotton Commission (GCC) attended the Georgia Cotton Women (GCW) Volunteer Recognition Banquet on Saturday, March 10, 2012, in Tifton. The GCW is a volunteer organization of women involved in various aspects of the cotton industry including production, ginning and marketing who work to promote cotton at the consumer level and educate school children about the importance of cotton to their lives.
The Commission is a long-time sponsor of the GCW’s programs. Those attending the banquet from the Commission were Chairman Louie Perry, Vice Chairman Mike Lucas with his wife Sharon, Board Member Wavell Robinson with his wife Darlene, Board Member Lee Cromley with his wife Anne and Executive Director Richey Seaton, who made brief comments on the program. The guest speaker for the banquet was Georgia Farm Bureau First Lady Bonnie Duvall who spoke about how women are encouragers to their families and she encouraged women to speak out about the things they believe in.
The program included recognition of scholarship recipients for 2010-11 and 2011-12 and the installment of Georgia Cotton Women officers and directors for 2012-14.
